If you’ve experienced a “dark night of the soul” moment in your life, you know the despair.
Mine arrived in my late 30s, during the month of December, 2006, the darkest month of month of my life, followed by January 2007, which was darker still. This sorrowful time was in direct contrast to the season of light, love, celebration and miracles.
I went from the tentative thrill of a positive pregnancy test, the direct result of long-winding road through the terrain of infertility and invitro-fertilization, to crushing despair: the request for divorce by my now ex-husband and the miscarriage of our tiny embryos about 10 weeks later.
However, the presence of these two sweet souls, for however brief in my life, who I named Sophia Grace and Noah James, helped mold me into the woman I am today, and for that I am forever grateful.
It is from this foundation of love and appreciation, and the spirit of contribution, which I support organizations which do exquisitely beautiful work to support mothers and their children.
LOVE and LIGHT in 2015
On Saturday, May 9th, the day before Mother’s Day, I will run a 50K (or 31 miles), in honor of Sophia Grace and Noah James, and to raise funds for two organizations who do most amazing work in support of mothers and babies.
The first organization is Mikayla’s Grace…
…A local Madison, Wisconsin-based organization honors the connection between mothers and their babies, however brief and fleeting, as it provides Angel memory boxes for families who experience the death of an infant, as well as, Baby Loss Comfort Packages (for early pregnancy loss less than 16 weeks).
The second organization is the Vanga Evangelical Hospital …
… It is little further away, across an ocean, and on the continent of Africa where I grew up as the daughter of missionaries. I am raising funds to support the needs of the pediatric ward where my big brother, Munjembe, works as a nurse providing loving medical care for mothers and babies.
To kick off the fundraising…
I am donating a $100.00 in support of these two magnificent organizations.
I invite you to join me. I suggest a starting donation of $31.00 which represents the 31 miles I will be running.
Thank you, so very much, for opening your heart and wallets in support of GOODNESS and HEALING and THRIVING.
